The London Library’s 175th anniversary celebrations were ambitious.
A five day programme was planned, including a gala dinner for 230 of the Library’s donors and supporters, an anniversary party for 375 of the Library’s members and a series of 16 literary events featuring over 50 celebrated authors, inspiring and entertaining an audience of up to 5,000 ticket holders over the course of 3 days entitled WORDS IN THE SQUARE.
With no suitable space available within the Library’s Grade II listed home in St James’s Square, the plans involved erecting a specially designed five star marquee in the beautiful, historic gardens in the centre of St James’s Square.
The London Library engaged EMS to help tackle the project, requiring over six months of planning. Responsibilities included event project management, planning and budgeting, as well as sourcing and managing the many suppliers required to build a luxury marquee venue to accommodate an Event Area, Box Office, Café, Bookshop, Cloakroom, Toilets, and Catering Kitchen. The EMS team managed all the event logistics, ticketing and customer service for the week of events.
Inez Lynn, Librarian and CEO of The London Library said: “The team’s ability to keep the project on track, delivered on time, within budget and to the absolute delight of the Library members and general public was very much appreciated. No detail was too small to be planned and executed to the letter and it was clear that the EMS team cared as much as we did that everyone who attended should have a positive experience. The celebrations were a resounding success for the Library and we would not hesitate in recommending EMS for their ability to manage complicated and high profile events.”
